Meet Our Founder & CEO, Zachary E. Carter
Zach has always sought to better the lives of those around him, and this desire ultimately led him to start Heron Hill Risk Management in 2021. Having worked at one of the top 10 insurance brokers in the world, a mid-size commercial brokerage, and a local mom-and-pop firm, Zach provides decades of well-rounded risk management experience and seasoned industry know-how to the Heron Hill team.
Zach grew up in Wisconsin, lived in Chicago for many years, and has spent nearly a decade now in Middle Tennessee. When he’s not listening to his clients’ stories or shaping the team’s culture, Zach loves camping, reading, attending concerts, boating, coaching his kids’ basketball teams, and serving on the board at the Carter Family Foundation. He lives in Thompson’s Station with his wife, four kids, and two dogs.
Brennen Finchum brings extensive experience to insurance experience, focusing on service and creative problem-solving to offer tailored coverage. He holds a BS in Social Justice from Trevecca Nazarene University and an MST from Fuller Theological Seminary, guided by his values of service and impact in the business world.
A Franklin native, Brennen is actively involved in his community, serving as the fundraising chair for a Cub Scouts pack and in children's ministry at Holy Saints. He is also Vice President of his BNI chapter, a member of Nashville Rotaract, Network in Action (NIA), and the Nashville Mortgage Bankers Association, and serves on the board of DECO.
Outside of work, Brennen enjoys spending time with his family—his wife Betsy, and their three wild boys, Isaac, Charlie, and Noah. Together, they share a love for the outdoors and are involved in activities like Taekwondo, rock climbing, and soccer with Nashville United Soccer Academy. He also enjoys cigars and is working on a tobacconist certification
David Comer is a seasoned insurance professional with the licensing and expertise to provide exceptional service to his clients. He specializes in crafting personalized insurance solutions that address each client's unique personal and business needs. David's dedication to serving his clients with care and integrity sets him apart in the industry.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, David resides in Nashville with his wife, Lisa, and their four children. Deeply committed to his community, he serves on multiple nonprofit boards and is the Vice President of the Franklin Rotary.
